Happy Birthday Isaac!

July 2nd, last night as a 7 year old.  Our crazy, silly, wild, smart, funny, kind, sensitive Izy!

Playing Ninja

Thomas and Luke having a very serious conversation.

Esnat loves playing with Ruby, and as you can see the feeling is mutual.

Isaac spent his birthday evening at a VBS at Chitipi.  He had a blast and so did the other kids.  We had planned to stay and have a movie night with the children's home kids, but the power went out. So, instead we had a dance party in the dark to the boys playing drums.  Super fun time!

Ruby's bites/bumps continue to be a mystery.  We did have an American dr. come to our house and look at her.  His best guess was scabies, and he gave us some cream for that.  We tried it, and they are still spreading.  The bites themselves and other factors really are not congruent with scabies--namely that it's contagious and none of us have it.  We are continuing to pray for some answers and relief for her.  She doesn't seem the least bit worried.

We are headed to Zambia tomorrow morning for safari until Monday.  We are all very excited!!!

  2. This is just a thought I had. One of my roommates had a similar skin problem--it turned out that she had a basket in her room where she kept some of her clothes. Well, all baskets and wicker products have to be treated with some really harsh, toxic chemicals otherwise they will become infested with tiny, barely visible little bugs that will eat away at the wicker. Turns out in her case that they started biting her because they had gotten into her clothing! Now, that was 10 years ago, so I don't remember all the details, but I remember her treating the bites with gold bond powder to help with the itch, washing her clothes and getting rid of the basket. Not sure if you've got any wicker stuff, but thought I'd mention it as we has tons of it. It would also make sense for where she's being bitten, if the bumps are indeed bites. Hope you guys are able to figure out out soon!!

And so excited for you to go on safari!! I love going on safari--your kids will love it!! What Lodge are you staying at? Hopefully your drivers will take you to this place called Tribal Textiles--they have a lot of really neat stuff to look at and buy and you can get a tour of the place and they show you how they make the stuff. Ahh, so jealous!! Have so much fun!!
